Roland Douglas is a As a child I always demonstrated artist abilities. I enjoyed rearranging my bedroom, designing and constructing the class bulletin boards for my aunt's elementary class, and coordinating what I would wear from shopping at the Good Will and thrift stores. I pursued a career in fashion design which started with free hand sketches and a Singer Sewing class. Fashion was intriguing for me. I was amazed by how clothing, accessories and make-up could create a completely different facade and character. Fashion opened new vistas for me. But after completing two degrees, designing for private customers and working in several positions in the fashion industry, I was still unfulfilled. I decided to pursue a career in education. I felt that certainly I would be able to utilize my creative skills to teach young people. I returned to school to complete an undergraduate degree in Sociology and Elementary Education. The marriage of art and education was a success for me.
