I started my career drilling blast holes in an underground mine in the Andes mountain range. My interest in complex minerals drove me into the mill. As a chief metallurgist I trained and led a team of ten motivated engineers in the optimization of the metallurgical process. Together we had one conviction: SAFETY FIRST. The mining world is tough, and most things in it are made of steel. My curiosity about this material led me to spend five years in Italy casting iron and steel liners specially engineered for mining applications. As a result of my research work, today there is an improved crusher steel liner in use at many mines around the world. My love for metallurgy is only matched by my passion for communicating about it. I moved to Paris and spent five years traveling the world, developing new metallurgical products, and speaking at international conferences. I launched ten new products and opened new markets for my employer in India and Brazil. My ability to speak English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese helped me to establish strong collaborations with clients. Today the steel industry faces its biggest challenge: reducing the carbon footprint. I have decided to participate in the efforts of decarbonizing steel by assessing its financial risk. I believe that a green approach to finances is as necessary as the new green technologies that should mitigate climate change. My journey has been "passionnant" thus far.
