I have had the privilege to serve individuals, families and children through work in government, nonprofit & the philanthropic sector where I honed my specialty in social impact, strategic planning, policy, and government affairs. I began my career at a disability rights organization advocating for affordable, accessible housing development. When my career shifted to public service, my focus area expanded beyond affordable housing to work on policy and improving operations for public benefit programs. This included a focus on homeless services that ranged from prevention programming to providing 27M in wrap-around services for at-risk families. After 10+ years in public service, I sought to bring my expertise of guiding anti-poverty programs to the philanthropic and non-profit sector. My work initially included joining 100 Resilient Cities-Rockefeller Foundation, where I led global operations for the City Practice Management team, which included developing strategies to proactively manage systemic stressors such as homelessness. As I strategized to support vulnerable adults, I realized how generational poverty disruption required deeper awareness and investments in early childhood development. As a social impact leader at Sesame Workshop, my focus was on scaling Sesame Street in Communities (SSIC). SSIC is a bilingual, multimedia initiative harnessing the power of Muppets and research-based content to reach vulnerable children with resources that foster healthy development. Through partnerships with regional and national early childhood development organizations we delivered resources with a lens towards raising awareness of adverse childhood experiences and its correlation to poverty. During my tenure, we reached an estimated 75k kids and families with over 100k toolkits through our implementation work in 13 cities and regions. While greatly expanding SSIC's online presence from 1M website users to 2.4M. My career has afforded me the opportunity to be of service and obtain expertise on anti-poverty programs that span from birth to adulthood. This work is an extension of my personal mission to mentor first generation students and advocate for increasing the pipeline of students from vulnerable communities at my alma maters. The culmination of this work included championing the inaugural Public Policy and International Affairs Fellowship at the University at Albany – Rockefeller College.
