I joined the Navy in September of 1967, and was stationed on the USS Point Defiance, LSD-31. including 3 deployments to the Western Pacific. I re-enlisted in 1971 and changed my specialty rating to Aviation Structural Mechanic (AMS). I first got involved with Penetrant and Magnetic Particle in 1971 at AMS "A" School, and again in 1973 at AMS "B" School. I completed the Naval Aviation NDI course at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, IL in 1978, course included Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Bond Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current and Radiography. I left the Navy in 1981 after being selected for AMSC, since then have worked for MQS Inspection, Magnaflux Corporation, Rocketdyne, ITW/Magnaflux, Chem-Trends, Octagon, Allied Signal (Now Honeywell), Ely Chemical and now Chemetall. I believe that I have worked in pretty much every field in which NDT is used in the last 44 years.
