I like to think that being an actor uniquely prepared me for my work as a therapist and my clients always find it intriguing that I once tread the boards. I like to use my journey from the stage to the group room as a way to talk to clients about how life can truly surprise us. It was an interest in drama therapy that first got me interested in the world of psychology. Once I took the leap, I was hooked. Over my years, in the field I have been fortunate to work in a variety of settings. One of my first experiences was working with adolescents in a residential setting. It allowed me to hone my groups skills because - believe me - if you can do group therapy and psychoeducation with teenagers, there is very little you cannot handle! In fact, I have often been handed challenges that have allowed me to grow as a person and as a therapist such as being assigned to a high-acuity unit, working with some of the sickest patients in the hospital. Although I am comfortable in many settings and have thrived wherever I have been, my true passion is for working with couples and individuals to help them work through their problems. I enjoy walking with people through their grief, providing practical help for someone with anxiety, or providing hope for someone suffering from depression. I completed the Level 1 training from the the Gottman Institute, which I use to help couples rebuild their love maps and work through their rough patches. I have also completed level 1 training in EMDR and received training on Batterer's Intervention assessment and treatment. I love what I do. It is not a job, it is a vocation, and I feel blessed to get to be a part of people's lives in that way.
