They sponsored me through my thick sandwich degree, and over 14 years I developed technical and managerial skills as I evolved through the roles of; Design Engineer, Engineering Services Supervisor (R&D Modelling Production and Testing), Engineering Services Manager which then grew in size to also encompass the Drawing Office, the Quality Department, and Product Related Software. I then persuaded the board to allow me to start a new area of business for Spirax-Sarco, Process Automation. I created and held the position of Group Business Manager - Automation with responsibility for teams in the UK, France, Spain and Italy. Spirax-Sarco are the leaders in their field, and during my time with them a very good company. They recognised the employees are the company, and for the company to develop positively so must its employees. They also recognised that it is normally beneficial to promote, develop, educate and train in house staff in preference to bringing in new employees. In reality Spirax-Sarco sells solutions, knowledge and peace of mind, but its customers buy products, mainly manufactured by them. I very much enjoyed the business challenges at Spirax-Sarco and on the assumption the companies principles haven’t changed I thoroughly recommend them.
