As a practitioner, a researcher, a professor and an entrepreneur I pursue this goal since more than thirty years. I published more than 40 papers in international journals and conferences in the broad field of software verification. I teach the mathematical foundations of Computer Science, the semantics of programming languages and formal methods of program development and verification. As founder of BUGSENG, I make sure the true state-of-the-art in software verification is available to industry. I represent Italy in ISO JTC1/SC22/WG14, the group working on standardization of the "C" programming language. I am a member of the MISRA-C working group. I have been involved with computers and programming since when, a teenager, I built my first computer. I started working on embedded systems and communication protocols and software in 1984, first at the University of Bologna in the Medical Physics Group, and then at CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physiscs, where I worked in the group of Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web. I was graduated in Computer Science, with full marks and honors, from the University of Pisa in 1992. I received my PhD in Computer Science from the same university in 1997. In 1997 I have also been a Research Fellow at the School of Computer Studies of the University of Leeds. I have been Assistant Professor (1997-2001) and then Associate Professor of Computer Science (2001-2010) at the University of Parma. Since 2010 I am Full Professor of Computer Science at the same university. I am a visionary, I never give up, and never make a concession to fear of failure. I love cooking and working hard for long hours in doing what I believe is worth doing.
