One of the clients of his consulting business was SIENNA Technologies. In 1995, SIENNA appointed Rob to their board as Non-executive Chairman, and then as CEO in 1996. He raised over 6 million in venture capital and transformed the business. For many years Rob had a business breeding horses at his property on the north coast of NSW. He then pursued this interest further by establishing and operating Valley Country, which became the largest online business in the equestrian industry, along with its strong retail business. Rob likes to contribute to his community by volunteering. He is Past President of the Rotary Club of Turramurra, and has held roles of Assistant Governor and District Polio Chair for Rotary District 9685 (the north side of Sydney). One of his fundraisers for EndPolioNow was to ride his bicycle from Cairns to Melbourne, which involved extensive TV, radio and other media coverage. His ongoing involvement in the worldwide effort to eradicate polio (which is now very close to reality) earned him one of just ten “Regional Service Awards for a Polio-free World” from the World Health Organisation in 2015. In May 2018, Rob took on the role of Senior Coordinator with Rotary's charity, The Rotary Foundation. In the five years that followed, he established several new fundraising programs, attracting financial support for the Foundation, both from within the Rotary network and external sources. He retired in July 2023.
