He combined his work with the undertaking of various vocational trainings, which enabled him to grow into the function of structural designer/project leader. After gaining extensive experience in the field of all types of small and medium large residential and non-residential buildings, he joined the structural division of EGM architects, one of the largest architectural firms in the Netherlands. There he worked for considerable time at the intersection of architecture and structure. Alongside his work as structural designer and project leader in many interesting and large projects Rob studied in his spare time at the Delft University of Technology. In 1994 he graduated cum laude on the theme of durability and service life of building components. He choose this theme because of his great interest in durability problems that he was facing quite often in his practice. He had a drive to feed knowledge about durability back into the design process. In his actual position he continues to put this in practice. In 1997 Rob obtained an International MBA/MBI degree at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam and the Georgia State University of Atlanta. This enabled him to give shape to the business side of the engineering profession. From this background and interests Rob was one of the leaders of Aronsohn consulting engineers since 2000. He combined his business activities with structural designing, especially in the first phases of projects. An important item was the integration with other disciplines.
