Rick Mason Email & Phone Number | Straight out of high school and into the US Navy is how my adult life began. The military shaped me, the Submarine Service, however, stamped me into who I am. Pride in a job well done and being a part of something greater than itself is a feeling that embraces ones soul and never let's go. I was an Auxiliaryman and a diver aboard the USS LaJolla SSN-701 which was a Los Angeles Class Fast Attack Nuclear Submarine. The diesel engine, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and atmosphere control equipment were just a few of the systems we maintained and operated. It was a part of my life that I can never forget and shared with some of the bravest and closest brothers that I'll ever know. For a few months after my honorable discharge I was a salvage diver in California. Clearing and removing debris from or near the shipping lanes. My claim to fame in that career was riding a sunken trawler back to the surface and it's subsequent towing out to sea to be sent back to the bottom and out of the way of the shipping lanes. Going from near black water, to standing on her deck in the California sun, in dive gear, with water running off the wheelhouse will be etched in my mind for eternity. It was the most hazardous job I've ever done. Since those days, I have enjoyed a healthy career in the Power Generation field. Having met and worked with so many great Engineers and skilled craftsmen/craftswomen it has been and continues to be a fulfilling field to be associated with. With the technological advancements in both turbine and blade design, plus digital controls and monitoring systems that I have witnessed in my 30+ years it continues to intrigue me on just where we are headed. I have removed, inspected and replaced more HP and LP turbines than I can count. The upgrades and modifications over the years have been both challenging and fulfilling. Making a difference. Don't we all want to wake up each morning and feel passion for our jobs? I still feel that! I hope you all feel that passion as well, no matter where you work or what you do. We all can make a difference!
