Richard Lewis Email & Phone Number | While in the Midwest, I began to exit my High School days by winning First Place at our annual Page County, IA science fair in the Physics Division for building a Laser out of household and farm materials. I am also an Honorably Discharged Vietnam Veteran from the US Air Force that worked in the repair and calibration of electronic test equipment called Precision Measuring Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) that was traceable to the National Bureau of Standards. I was stationed in Lowry AFB, CO, Altus AFB, OK, and Bitburg AB, Germany, and I was awarded "Airman of the Month" while stationed at Altus AFB for implementing innovative calibration procedures on military test equipment. I attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where I was a tutor for the Physics Department during my senior year of 1980. I also passed the national "Engineer in Training" exam while still a senior. Go Cornhusker’s!! I was then hired into the aerospace industry at Hughes Radar Systems in CA, later transferring to Hughes Space and Communications also in CA, and finally to Boeing Electron Dynamics as a subcontractor for NASA where I worked in an R&D capacity for the manufacturing and test of Travelling Wave Tubes (high-powered RF and Microwave Amplifiers) used in commercial and military satellites. As part of a team of 3 engineers, we were awarded a 5 million dollar budget to completely redesign the production test stations, test equipment, software, characterization and test procedures of TWT's in the facility. During my tenure in the aerospace industry, I received 17 awards for design, innovations and improvements in equipment, test procedures and manufacturing processes. Regarding Amateur Ham Radios, I have the highest level of licensing one can obtain, the Amateur Extra Class, K0LSX. Due to my interest and hobby of hot-rods, I recently received a US Patent on a tool for the automotive engine-building industry called ValveTrax (US Patent # 8,240,283). Finally, as Vice President of the Electrical Engineering Department at Zero Electric Vehicles Corporation and one of the Founder's of the company, I have 9 patents "pending" in the US Patent Office with respect to electric vehicle manufacturing.
