We represent Tridium Niagara AX and N4, KMC Controls, American Auto-Matrix, Axis Communications, Milestone Systems, and can service many brands of building automation systems. My philosophy throughout my career has always been to offer open and flexible building automation systems and we align ourselves with manufacturers who follow that philosophy as well. There are excessive amounts of profiteering and restraint-of-trade practices in the building automation field and I've fought hard for 25+ years to counter-attack those practices, especially for public work where the taxpayer is under-represented and is getting ripped off by a lot of greedy people in the construction trades. If you find an example of any corrupt behavior by a building automation contractor, or any other kind of vendor for that matter, in upstate New York, please email me about it as that is an issue I am really fighting hard to curtail. In December 2013 I found out from the NIGP that purchasing and procurement departments are getting more involved in supervising A/E design and construction groups. This is a welcome change to hopefully help control costs in this business. The "revolving door" between these state agency design groups and private A/E design firms sets up conditions for conflict of interest and bad cost containment habits.
