I currently provide school-based and early intervention OT services with Ascend Rehab Inc. In the past, I have provided occupational therapy services to OTTP-SF, a community- based non-profit organization that supports San Francisco youth in accessing personal, educational, and vocational resources. Including a capstone project on diabetes self-management, my OT experiences range from shadowing OTs in hospital acute care settings (e.g., SICU, burn unit), to having fieldwork placements in primary healthcare, pediatrics, and mental health. Graduating from the University of California - San Diego with a Bachelors of Science degree in Cognitive Science (with a specialization in Human Cognition), I have a strong educational background in understanding behavior, atypical human development, and mental health promotion. With roughly 2 years of career experience in ABA therapy, I've also developed the skills and experience necessary to work with neurodivergent individuals. At UCSD, I decided to switch professional gears from computer science to a medical profession following the unexpected death of my diabetic grandmother. Finding inspiration in the clinicians that worked hard to ensure her good health and happiness, I made it my goal to be a healthcare professional that addresses the health inequities found in our healthcare system and medical models. Soon after, I became a public health officer of the Flying Samaritans UCSD chapter, a non-profit that travels to Ensenada to offer free health care to those in need. I also became involved in the Student Promoted Access Center for Education and Service (the first student-led university organization for access, retention, and community work) as their UCSD Overnight Program and ASP Resource Coordinator. There, I've had the opportunity to decrease the educational disparities at our university by personally coordinating a 3-day education fair that served 500+ underserved high school participants and undergraduate volunteers. I also managed a free booklending program for 300+ undergraduates, reducing financial strain (over 12,000 dollars in total) on undergraduate students.
