For the last two years I have worked with the Burn Institute as Director of Prevention Programs to provide services to seniors, children, and low income families. Previously, I was employed for 12.5 years at the San Diego chapter of the American Red Cross as the Regional Preparedness Manager. In 2012, I wrote a research paper titled, "Prepare San Diego", that addressed the need for disaster preparedness education in vulnerable communities and how to create sustainable networks to address this need My primary passion is writing fiction. I am a current member of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators. I have attended classes at San Diego Writers, Ink for several years and completed two play writing workshops offered by Diversionary Theater and the Old Globe, both in San Diego. And for the last fours years i have attended the Willa Cather Spring Conference in Red Cloud, Nebraska. I have 10 children's picture books that i am currently editing along with a variety of short fiction, two 15 minute plays, and two novels in progress. My dream job would be to work with an organization whose mission is literacy promotion or helping students complete a college education.
