I built my mainframe experience as an MVS Systems Programmer, Network Systems Programmer and EDP Security Specialist before moving to work for Computer Associates (now CA a Broadcom Company) ten years into my career. During that time, I had also achieved the Toast Masters' CTM certification for public speaking, which has come in very handy. At CA, I was a security and mainframe consultant, Mainframe Strategy Owner, Consulting Director, Regional Manager, Business Development Manager, Global Mainframe Practice Manager, and Product Management Director for Mainframe Strategy. I presented to technical and management audiences in many countries (and visited every continent where there are mainframes), did webcasts and podcasts, wrote a good number of articles, whitepapers and blog entries and was responsible for two CA books: "Releasing Latent Value" and "Mainframe 2.0". One of the most important things that working for CA enabled me to do is to take an active role at SHARE (see http://www.share.org). I've been a Project Officer, a Deputy Project Manager, and Deputy Director for Community Development. I hope and plan to continue to participate and contribute at SHARE as much as I can for the foreseeable future. In 2011 I began the next part of my career, it is now time to build on my reputation as a recognized expert writer and speaker on human and computing issues as Chief Strategist at Mainframe Analytics ltd. Then in 2020 IBM recognized my role and value, making me the first, and so far only, IBM Champion for Z mainframes in Canada. Specialties: Mainframe Systems Programming, Security, Automation, DevOps, Public Speaking and Presenting, Writing, and Thought Leadership on Human and Computing Issues such as Mainframe Continuity Planning (the need to plan for the future of the mainframe given the imminent retirement of the current generation).
