She graduated with honors from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (1993) with a BA in economics and business management and a minor in Japanese. Additionally, she trained as a Chartered Accountant, was awarded her UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) license, and held membership for 10 years in the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)
