Rebecca was a part of the organizing team for the organization's first NEARCON conference in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2021, overseeing creative and community activiations. She led the organization's first annual conference MARMA J CON in Antigua and Barbuda - five days of programming, hackathon, social events, and culminating in a one-day retreat. Prior to this, after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History and English at McGill University in June 2014, Rebecca developed a strong foundation of arts administrative, programming, and fundraising work in a not-for-profit setting at the Markham Arts Council, TIFF, and the Toronto International Festival of Authors, while also volunteering and doing occasional freelance event work. In 2015, she also completed an Event Marketing post-graduate certification in Sports, Entertainment, and Arts at Seneca College. Rebecca completed a MBA at the Schulich School of Business with a specialization in Arts, Media, and Entertainment Management (2021), honing skills from her previous non-profit and event work and volunteer experience in order to transition to a managerial role in an arts and culture, events, or media organization. A transition she successfully made, but cross-industry into the technology sector and the fast-expanding world of block chain. Rebecca is passionate about arts and culture, reading, history, and constantly expanding her knowledge. She is looking for the next opportunity where she can leverage her skillset and learn about a new organization, ecosystem, and/or perhaps industry.
