For some such as first responders and medical staff, they have been sent into a nightmare of never ending over time and even still, hospitals are closing... I have been fortunate to be not connected with any of that. Still my respect goes to all who have spent this many months on the front lines. I was laid off. I put aside any extra cash just in case things get worse. I know not when they will. Most of us did get laid off. Some are done and gone for good. Some have quit. This means my employer has far more work to be done and not enough revenue to fill the seats. I wear now many hats. Project manager, Project engineer, Electrical Engineering Design PCB development, Fabrication Procurement Components Integration Engineer 3D printer Specialist, Materials Procurement Production Assembly, Production QC Returns inspection, Returns Repairs Janitorial, and many other tasks. We fight daily to juggle the load of maintaining existing hardware lines, repairing hardware from customers, and creating the next generation of products. Really, I can't share anything. NDA are not to be toyed with. So I must be vague. I wish it paid better, but it's not like I don't make mistakes. It's not like the company is rolling in cash. For sure its better than toiling for weeks and months without a check, having to moonlight contract for a few bucks on PayPal just to get food and fuel. But those days are past, forever I hope. Nor am I truly struggling now. I am fortunate to have survived. More so to remained CoV-2 safe. With my expanded duties comes a never ending need for constant expansion of Electronically Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering skills. Our company has also finally started to embrace 3D printing as well. So no mater what happens here I will be ready for the next should that be necessary.2016: No longer contracting, and much below is vastly outdated. But will never forget those I have worked with, and worked for. Maybe I will return as a contractor again some day. But I hope also with better skills to offer than before. -I will update my job history after leaving my current job, not before. I cannot see any connections with this company advancing any part of my career, and would rather they not be added to my history or people I might know. I service many clients in Wisconsin, and offer services to many more nationally via one of my larger clients. I also offer a national service in small circuit repair and data recovery. Locally I still offer services in home PC repair, small business PC troubleshooting, small network support, home theater setup, etc. Although my list of clients continues to grow, it is slow and jobs are sporadic. I would like to believe I am doing very well my first year independent of any host flag, but the debt collectors from days past might unquestionably disagree, thus I am still pursuing greater experience, and far more contracts to load my schedule with. Short term goal, is to make good on all load my schedule, repay all outstanding debt. Long term goal, is to launch two or more additional operations, with launch staffed by actual employees other than myself. I can see many great businesses to pursue, the question is which to start with other than the services I already offer.Managing the Computer Store on commission as an Independent contractor from 2012-2014, I gained priceless experience doing everything but managing employees and handling finances. 2013, the physical store location was closed and I was able to take our services directly to clients.2019: Have been working for the same company now since 2014. In that time skills have only grown slightly as I am not used for EET, PC tech, or network installations Tech. However on the side I have continued to develop skills in AutoDesk Fusion360, FDM printing, PCB creation, and many related technologies. I have burned through 3x 3D printers, one being customized as needed. Another the size of small chest freezer should be finished very soon. I look forward to offering multi material prints with disolveable supports and or soft and stretchy materials. To date I have 6x kinds of PETG material, ASA, POM, Delrin, ABS, TGH, PETG, TPE, TPU and HDPE. Though for the moment TPE, TGH and PETG are my default materials. The others favor heated beds, heated air and enclosed environments that I cannot offer until the new machine is running. I am also proud to offer the ability to make a multitude of caps in several materials for whatever maybe needed. Tested on Camera Lenses improving transport durability, Tested on Camera lenses needing simple post sales shipping covers, also tested on small votive containers used to various types of Flux, Alcohol and Resin for soldering. Lastly, though I have much to learn, I have tested myself a against a great number of difficult objects to be replicated for purpose of virtualization for testing and generating modifications or accessories.I started my relationship with The Computer Store while attending high school at Madison East. I would visit often looking for older Macintosh systems and used server SCSI hard drives that I might use with the Macintosh systems. Every now and then The Computer Store would ask me to refurbish a higher value Macintosh hardware they might offer to other customers. Many years later, this eventually lead to a part time job and then to a full time job as the resident Apple expert, though they never invested in the technology and did not advertise it's support. In 2008, I joined the team as a sales and customer support becoming a full time technician and manager spring 2010, after a most unexpected vacancy. Following a long slow decline in demand for local sourced new PC hardware and service, the owner and I decided to close the shop. But, for a time I continued to provide on call support for a time, including Windows, Apple, Data recovery services, and systems installation. -This location had no national affiliation with operations of a similar name.I started as here as temp, filling a job that was very similar to several previous appointments to US Postal Service, as both Clerk and Mail Handler. Over time, my primary position was operation of the large flats sorting machinery that handled things like small phone books and thick cell phone bills that looked like phone books. I was trained as operator of the large high speed sorting machines, as well as flats. Cross trained and experienced in what was called picking, or rather keeping up with a machine and rapidly placing sorted material into trays when the machine sorts everything to only 1 - 3 trays, and the machines can run 30k-40k pieces per hour... Also cross trained on operation of what was once sophisticated Pitney Bowes commercial scale and stamp hardware, that broken down constantly... For sure there was no glam here. Just machine operations, and warehouse like environment. Lots of dust and mail. Sometimes ink stains. Loading and unloading of vans and trucks. Manual labor. Etc.I worked for US Postal service filling a variety of short term positions which will all related to supporting the life cycle of a package/letter though the postal service. These varied daily from manual sorting, loading/unloading containers, machine operations and many other support roles as required.
