Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, as Undersecretary of Abu Dhabi Department for Economic Development (ADDED), I had gone through an accomplished career driving a number of strategically-critical entities in Abu Dhabi. One of my major roles included playing an instrumental part in establishing the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) in 2000. I was the first employee to be hired by the Exchange. I managed, with the help of a dedicated team of Emirati nationals, to place ADX, though a relatively newly established stock market, on the regional global map with an ambitious vision of becoming the Market of Choice in the region. During my tenure as Chief Executive of ADX, the Exchange reached new heights by becoming the first exchange in the region to be upgraded to emerging market status by FTSE in 2009, and S&P and Russell Investments in 2011. In 2012, ADX was elected as a full member of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE). It was one of the youngest exchanges to obtain full membership which is considered by many governments and national asset management associations to be an important prerequisite for their recognition and support. The Exchange achieved a major milestone in its development when in 2014, MSCI upgraded ADX from frontier to emerging. My meaningful contribution toward the positioning of Abu Dhabi as a pioneering hub for sustainable finance was always driven by his visionary governance. Leading by strategic innovations to further empower and strengthen the services provided by ADX to stakeholders, the Exchange became in 2016 the first in the MENA region and third globally to adopt blockchain technology in its services by applying blockchain eVoting in any Annual General Meeting (AGM) for its listed companies. My broader thinking makes me performing with a sense of anticipation and responsibility for which I was awarded Government CEO Excellence Award in 2014 and the Arab Eagle Award for General Management in 2017. Furthermore, My broader thinking was recognized globally when I was elected as a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) Berlin and also elected as the UAE Co-Chair for the Financial & Professional Services Working Group of the UK/UAE Business Council. I served as the Vice- Chairman of South Asian Federation of Exchanges (SAFE) as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Federation of Exchanges (AFE).
