Ramin Maghrebi Email & Phone Number | I am a chemical engineer currently working on sophisticated bio/chemical processes to boost renewable energy technologies. My filed of interest during the last years have been catalytic and non-catalytic hydro/deoxygenation of vegetable oil and animal fat, as well as catalytic hydroisomerisation of un/saturated fatty acids. Conversion of lipids in these processes is aimed to produce value-added chemicals such as biofuels, lubricants, cosmetic products etc. One of my activities has focused on achieving renewable hydrocarbons for aviation fuel from renewable feedstocks by catalytic and non-catalytic thermochemical processes to fulfill a European project. In this work I have obtained very interesting outcomes. The results will be later analyzed to take another step towards industrialization of the process with the most economically attractive route. In another activity I have been working on branching of fatty acids in order to discover how to improve the cold flow properties of the biodiesel for the countries with colder climates. Very interesting results have been achieved. Further, I will use these results to carry out a techno-economic analysis via Aspen Plus. Thanks to my experimental activities, I have also obtained the essential competence to work safely in a laboratory as well as handling and interpreting the results of instruments such as GC-MS etc., performing variety of the analysis such as definition of number of acidity etc., and several catalyst preparation and synthesis techniques. Time as well as resource management have been other achievements of the experimental activities. Designing of experiments as well as analyzing the variance are other skills that have been obtained during several years of experimental activities. In the past, I have also worked on the modeling and simulation of chemical processes such as gas dehydration, oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) and biomethanation to name but a few as well as utilization of powerful software, such as Aspen plus and ANSYS Fluent. Since, often the results of the research need to be shared with the academic world, I have always allocated some of my time to improve my English writing skills to communicate better with the academic world and present my work through publications. As a results, I have already published some papers in valid journals and currently I have some others under journal revision and writing phase, too. Working on several European projects has granted to me the opportunity to realize how to manage time and resources in similar projects.
