He later moved to the United Kingdom where he received M.R.C.P. in Dublin, Ireland and practiced medicine for over 4 years before moving to the U.S. Dr. Mehta joined Wayne State University, completing a 3 year residency in internal medicine. During his 3rd year he was appointed Chief Resident. After residency training, Dr. Mehta joined Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, completing a 2 year fellowship in Gastroenterology and a one year fellowship in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy & Hepatology. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and has published several research papers within these fields. He is a Professor of Medicine at Wright State University and an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University, Wexner School of Medicine. He has served as Chairman of various committees at Kettering Medical Center, including the GI Committee, Physician Effectiveness Committee, Credentials Committee, and Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Mehta served as Vice President of Kettering Medical Center-Sycamore for six years and was awarded Best Teacher of the Year by medical residents of Kettering Medical Center. He is also a fellow of the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA) and American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). For two years (2011-2013) he held the position of Chief of Staff for the Kettering Medical Center & Sycamore Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. He sat in the board meetings of KMC for four years. Dr. Mehta joined Dayton Gastro in April of 2016. He served in their Executive committee for two years and is now member of practice board of One Gastro, Dayton division. He also sits on the Board of Doctors ACO for Georgia, Ohio and Indiana ( An Accountable Care Organization) and Royal ( commodity selling company) Dr. Mehta served as president of Montgomery County Medical Society for 2020 and their Board member for five years.
