My role is telling the story of Yuba County -- the services/resources available to residents; the wonderful work of our employees; and of our growth -- through different media like video, social media, and traditional print media. During emergencies, I act as Public Information Officer within the Incident Command Structure gathering, verifying, and disseminating pertinent information to the public, media, and other external agencies. I have worked in this role through several incidents including the North Compex Fire West Zone, Frenchtown Fire, Glen Fire, Willow Fire, Dixie Fire (as mutual aid), several Public Safety Power Shutoffs, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I'm a people person who is passionate about creativity, teamwork, and growth. I believe strong writing is the basis for any successful professional in any field, and I have written in a variety of areas including news, sports, profiles and music. Before my current position, I spent over three years covering local government, crime, courts, and health for the oldest California newspaper: the Marysville Appeal-Democrat. For two years while in college (go Hornets!), I led our newspaper staff in covering news, sports, culture, and other student-interest pieces, while also editing and page designing.
