I chose history as my college major because of its analytical nature and because I realized I had the skills to write a compelling essay. During the COVID shutdown, I decided to enroll in the Professional Sequence in Editing program through UC Extension and obtained my certificate in 2022. My twelve years in the insurance industry helped develop my analytical and communication skills, and I obtained my MBA in finance. When a business model seems weak, I ask myself, “How do they make money? How are they viable?” I question things that don’t seem logical, and I look for solutions to problems, both on my own and collaboratively. I took time off to raise my children and care for an elderly family member while staying current on business trends and managing projects as a landlord and an estate administrator. Juggling multiple tasks comes naturally to me. I am a self-described foodie and a creative chef, constantly trying new recipes and always tweaking them to see how much I can improve them. I approach cooking like an artist does a blank canvas: gather and prepare the ingredients at hand; taste; balance the salt, heat, sweet, bitter, and sour; then taste again. The end result will never be the same, but it will be satisfying.
