Have you ever shared your dream and heard, “That’s impossible?” In a family where educating girls was not even considered, no one believed my dream. My dream was to be the educated girl that no one believed I could become. I wanted to be the hard-working, transparent accountant that any company would hire. I wanted to be that person who identifies a problem and creates a sustainable solution that can transform a poor community. As an orphan, my dream was often shaken but I was willing to work hard and do anything to achieve it. Despite hardship, I never gave up on my dream. In 2005 Hope Alive! sponsored me to finish high school. In 2009 I won a government scholarship and graduated from Makerere University Business School with a diploma in Accounting, and in 2012 I enrolled in a CPA-Uganda professional accounting course. Finally, in 2014 I was awarded the prestigious MasterCard Foundation Scholarship and graduated from the W.P. Carey Business School with a B.S. in Accounting in 2018. While at Arizona State University, I was awarded “Most Engaged Student” of the year 2017-2018, and I worked as a Global Career Peer supporting other international students. I never stopped dreaming. I wanted a master’s degree and in 2018 I was awarded the prestigious SHARE Fellowship at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. While at Thunderbird, I’ve served as a campus Ambassador, co-founded Thundepreneurs, a student club inspiring global entrepreneurs, and I work with Thunderbird for Good as a UN Global Compact program assistant. In 2018 I founded the Uganda-based – Pauline Foundation focused on breaking the poverty cycle through practical education. I look forward to a career in global development in the non-profit sector, specifically higher education. My new dream is to continue serving the less-privileged so that they, in turn, can achieve their own dreams
