It is so wonderful to be able to pair tutors with English learners and see the pairs laughing together and learning key English skills to help them settle comfortably in Canada. I also teach an English language learning class for CLB 4-6 at Alderney Gate Library. I have received CELTA certification, receiving a grade only shared by 17% of Canadian graduates. I have a strong passion for ESL teaching and have a calm and understanding classroom manner infused with humour that has gained recognition from both instructors and students. I worked with ETC Atlantic as a Client Services Associate. It was so wonderful helping clients with their IELTS test registrations and the staff were wonderful to work with each day. I was the Founder/Director and Head Instructor of the Let's Learn English ESL Program. I held beginner and intermediate level ESL classes as well as a conversation circle for intermediate level. I also provided paid personalized one-on-one tutoring sessions to assist learners with specific skills. My ESL Program was awarded a certificate of recognition by the provincial government when it was operated under the Salvation Army - Fairview Citadel name. I truly have a passion for assisting newcomers in reaching their English language goals and in helping them feel at home and comfortable in Nova Scotia. I worked with ISANS as an Outreach ESL Instructor. It was challenging and exciting! I’m I have PBLA boot camp certification and I have taken the IRCC Introduction to PBLA for new Classroom teachers. I enjoyed my previous employment through Dalhousie University in the role of Secretary. It was a wonderful and interesting place to work! I am also a customer support & administrative professional who has over 25 years of customer service experience through which I have received recognition in the form of monthly sales and service awards. Having almost 10 years in an administrative support role, I have gained valuable experience in computer applications such as Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Power Point) and Adobe Professional X . I have a strong work ethic and a positive attitude and work well in a team setting or independently. My communication and interpersonal skills have been honed by both 1) taking courses such as SuperHost through Tourism NS and Public Speaking through Cohn & Wolfe in Toronto, ON and 2) over 20 years in the customer service field in the tourism, retail and IT fields.
