  Paul Langston is a I’ve always looked for opportunities to learn and grow my skill set. I took advantage of opportunities offered to me in blood bank to assist with regulatory compliance and blood utilization review. I continued to seek opportunities for growth and was eventually offered a position as a section supervisor or technical specialist in blood bank. From there I continued to take advantage of opportunities as they came along working as a shift supervisor or team leader and ultimately obtaining the role of lab operations manager. I’ve had the opportunity to oversee almost every aspect of the clinical laboratory from a fairly high volume facility with a robust outreach program to managing multiple smaller sites simultaneously. While in this role, I’ve lead a successful blood management initiative, participated it two LIS migrations, managed multiple quality assurance programs, overseen regulatory compliance of multiple lab sites, and managed upwards of 80 direct and secondary reports. I’ve had fairly robust lean management/six sigma training and have lead or participated in numerous PI initiatives. I’ve also had the opportunity to engage in change management training which has played a crucial role in navigating the currently tumultuous medical environment. Despite current circumstances I am excited to see what the future holds and what new skill set I might obtain along the way as telemedicine and individualized patient care become the standard of care.
