  Paul Bury is a I have extensive experience in synthetic organic chemistry gained through a PhD degree with Philip Kocienski at Southampton University, followed by a post doctoral period in the labs of Prof. Victor Snieckus in Waterloo, Canada. I followed this up with 7 years as a medicinal chemist with the Danish pharmaceutical company, Novo Nordisk, where I worked on projects aimed at finding solutions to post menopausal illness in women, and in ways of treating Type 2 diabetes. After my time in Denmark I moved to the custom synthesis company Ultrafine where I worked on a number of different projects on scales from milligrams to multiple kilos. I was promoted to team leader, which meant that I was responsible for directing the work a team of 4-8 PhD trained chemists and was also responsible for the a number of projects throughout their passage through the Ultrafine system. I gained valuable experience as a scale-up chemist and took a number of projects into and through the cGMP manufacturing process. I was required to prepare batch sheets and was also involved in setting the various quality parameters for the projects. I moved to my current post at Argenta in summer 2006, where I work as a principal research scientist and laboratory supervisor, and have been a member of research teams working on both external and internal research projects.
