  Ons Zakraoui is a An enthusiastic, creative, and goal-oriented translational cancer researcher (in UCSF’s Helen Diller Comprehensive cancer center) with over 10 years of research experience looking to extend my wide range of skills into drug discovery to advance the development of effective therapeutics and promote patients’ lives. My pre-doctoral, doctoral, and post-doctoral training has focused on using multidisciplinary, biochemical, molecular, and cell biological approaches to dissect and identify molecular markers for cancer diagnosis and therapy. Currently, I am conducting my post-doctoral training at UCSF in Dr. Eric Collisson’s Lab where my research focuses on optimizing treatment approaches to lung cancers harboring MET Exon 14 skipping cancer using a combination of genetically engineered mouse models, cell lines, and clinically derived samples. I received my Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Pasteur Institute of Tunisia where I extensively studied the “Mechanisms and targets for proteins isolated from a typical Tunisian snake venom and plants in colon cancer” In the same Lab, I was involved in a research project dealing with ''A multi-disciplinary international effort to identify clinical, molecular, and social factors impacting cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL)''. My subject was mainly dedicated to the study of the mechanism underlying the protective potential of Leishmania eukaryotic initiation factor (LeIF). In addition to my academic training (in Africa, Europe, and the USA) and my research strengths, I have a long-standing and dedicated interest in mentoring graduate students and planning multidisciplinary collaborative interactions.
