I understand that every individual has unique needs and we must meet people where they are so as to understand how to address their specific needs. As a military veteran I sought to understand what my needs were and I came to realize that by helping others I was helping myself as well. I knew that this was my calling so after retiring from the Army I completed the University of Southern California's Master of Social Work program. Whether it's providing case management, individual/group therapy, or collaborating with non-profit organizations to conduct food drives in underserved communities I felt a need to help others. Often times resources are available to help people but proper coordination is needed so that those resources can be distributed properly. I understand how to communicate effectively with organizations so that they can understand what resources are needed and how to engage communities in need. I have training in working on macro level projects that impact communities on a large scale. I also have training working with individuals, families, and groups. I utilize treatment modalities such as solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and feedback informed treatment to help people manage their mental health. I am constantly learning new ways to help others and finding resources that will improve people's lives.
