Decades later, I have been in software engineering in technical and leadership capacities, and worked on applications and systems that you have likely used. I have worked in various industries, including government and private sectors. Additionally I was co-founder and VP of Engineering at a startup that gamified fitness where I saw lives changed by our product. Software technology is always evolving, and I continue to evolve with it. A firm believer in self-growth and a lifelong learner, I rise to new opportunities and challenges, and continuously learn about both technology and leadership. I have been an Engineering Leader since 2004. The leaders I have emulated are both effective and empathetic. As a leader, I am authentic, dependable, and supportive. I collaborate well within engineering teams, across departments, and with contracting companies and vendors, which has led to developing better products and more inclusive cultures. I have temporarily led a department of 40 individual contributors, and on multiple occasions have informally managed managers and staff engineers and principal engineers. I have worked in regulated industries including healthcare and energy, media companies such as NPR, large companies such as Accenture and Capital One, and spent time as an adjunct faculty at multiple colleges.
