As co-founder, Senior Vice President and Chief Engineer, Norb leads Enviva’s in-house engineering team, which is responsible for all aspects of project development, implementation and the expansion of existing operations. Norb has spearheaded the project management, engineering review and process leadership of both biomass to energy and wood pellet manufacturing facilities in the United States and Europe. He has overseen the development of Enviva’s five wholly owned wood pellet production facilities in three states. He has also overseen the development of Enviva’s Port of Chesapeake, the first dedicated wood pellet export facility in the US. Prior to co-founding Enviva (originally Intrinergy) in 2004, Norb spent more than 16 years working in industrial manufacturing. During this time, he gained extensive experience in industrial engineering with an emphasis on maintenance including asset utilization, process design and reliability. Norb holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of South Carolina.
