He is married with three children, and enjoys equipping today's youth with 21st century skills that will help them succeed in tomorrow's world. While attending school at Washburn University he accepted a job on campus as a peer counselor where he counseled and helped college students in a variety of areas helping them to manage their day to day affairs. It soon became evident that he, like most of his family members had a strong desire to work in the service of others. After graduating from Washburn, he moved back to Houston, Texas and began working for Texas Department of Corrections as a Corrections and Institutional Parole Officer for Texas Department of Pardons and Paroles. After working for some time he noticed that the common denominator with criminal behavior was deficient academic history. In a hope to change that dynamic Nolan left the criminal justice field in search of opportunities to abort the school to prison pipeline. He began his teaching career in the Houston Independent School District as a middle school teacher and football coach at Albert Thomas Middle School in the Southeast part of Houston. At this point he realized that working with students and teachers was his true calling, therefore he pursued and obtained a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of St. Thomas. He re-entered the charter school movement as the Director of Operations/Assistant Principal at C.O.R.E. Academy Charter School and was promoted to Principal for the 2015-2016 school year. Nolan looks forward to serving the surrounding communities in his role as Principal and hopes the faculty, staff, and parents join with him in working to guide students toward growth, achievement, and autonomy in the pursuit of their dreams and aspirations.
