  Nathan Dalalo is a I am an Analytics professional with 10+ years of experience. My journey began when I studied Mathematics at the University of Guam. Inspired by my professors, I decided to continue my education and studied Mathematics, Operations Management, and Data Mining in graduate school. During this time, I had multiple internships including doing geospatial analytics, product management, and testing multiple data visualization software to select for a newly created analytics team. After school, I worked for an international team (Chicago, NYC, Norwalk CT, and Bangalore India) in a boutique consulting firm doing marketing analytics for large national clients. Wearing many hats, I learned a lot about the full life-cycle of an analytics project from busines requirements, to building mathematical models and presentations/dashboards, and presenting to client leadership. Wanting to diversify my technical skills, I started working for Discover Financial Services in their segmentation management marketing analytics team. As part of a 300 person marketing analytics team, I learned the joys of being part of the data community. After a few years, I transferred to the fraud team and learned a much darker side of data. Having experienced using data to help impact the community while working in the fraud department, I began to seek out transitioning to the healthcare industry. Active networking help me find my current job as a clinical analytics analyst at NorthShore University HealthSystem. For the first few year, I was a generalist and learned a lot about the many aspects of healthcare operations, quality and research. As an R shop, I've had great opportunities to strengthen my statistical background and occasionally work on data science projects. After the George Floyd killing, the organization developed a Health Equity Impact Team, of which I became the analytics lead. It has been a very meaningful journey and have the privilege of directly impacting vulnerable populations, including low-income, Black or African American, Hispanic/Latino and LGBTQIA+ patients. Through the various reports and dashboards I helped develop, we are seeing positive outcomes such as closing the gap between low and high-income patient's breast cancer screening rates. We have also improved our demographic data collection and are better understanding how to communicate to vulnerable populations more effectively through CRM testing. I look forward to networking with other health equity teams across industries to learn how to continue closing the growing health disparities we are seeing today.
