When Jay’s Steakhouse first opened up in Laramie, they had the challenge of opening a new restaurant to a small market. As a server I was hired and trained to be the direct link from the new product to the public. With this new employment opportunity I had the challenges of learning a new industry, a new business, and having just moved, a new market as well. My difficulties came with creating an experience for people that made them want to come back, and that's why I held the most responsibility within the restaurant. More often than not, because it was a new business, the food times were long, food came out wrong, and the managers were too busy to be found. It was then that I used my skills of being ★ Enthusiastic ★ Sociable ★ Creative to create customer experiences that were positive despite the circumstances. I listened to the clients demands to address their problems directly and kept a positive light on the situation. This helped to establish my clientele that I have carried on and built on to with my current job, bartending. _______________________________________________________________________________ Through this experience and the experiences that followed, I learned that the marketing and public relations classes taught in school are necessary for the fundamentals but that true marketing and public relations comes down to the experience with, and for, clients. I have mastered the following to create these experiences for clients ■ Responding, not reacting to the market and to clients needs ■ Individualizing each experience through transparency and creativity ■ Building enthusiasm in collaboration with partnerships and clients I would love to market, build, and create these experiences with your company as I have with all my past and present companies
