My love for story led me to earn a degree in journalism from the University of Regina, and I went on to write for a handful of newspapers across western Canada. Itchy feet led me to Bangkok, Thailand, and then to London, England, where I earned a Master of Arts in Creative Writing (narrative nonfiction) at City University London. Many moons ago, when I was working as a business editor, I discovered the thrill of storytelling about entrepreneurs, driven against the odds and the demands of sleep to bring an impassioned idea to the world. One day, I saw an opportunity to help entrepreneurs translate their enthusiasm and expertise to the page, and that’s when I got my own little business idea… Read Head Copywriting, opened in 2012, is now Read Head Studio Inc., a boutique Okanagan-based marketing and PR agency dedicated to getting more eyes on our clients’ stories. I’m proud to lead a team of writers, designers and strategists who love wielding our talents and tenacity to help clients make an impact. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to lead campaigns that tipped the needle and write copy that improved search and sales for national retailers, local non-profits, startups and government. I'm also a creative writer and award-winning poet. My work has appeared in publications around the world, including The New York Times, and I had the honour of winning the Bliss Carman Poetry Award for a poem about Inuit artist Annie Pootoogook. To help readers discover local writers, I founded Read Local Okanagan, a pop-up and online book stall. As an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and my community, I serve as a volunteer member of the Greater Vernon Cultural Centre Communications Committee, Community Futures North Okanagan committees and the Vernon Montessori Society.
