During my first co-op experience at Akamai, I was challenged to redefine “entrepreneurship” beyond my childhood dream of growing a business. I became an expert at delivering time-sensitive messaging to sales, and launched a rapid response process. Storytelling is at the core of every product marketing team’s efforts, and I restored the process to deliver vital insights to customers in real time. I learned that impactful product marketers are not only curators of powerful messaging, but are also innovators with an endless eagerness to learn. When it comes to telling my own story, I found myself with a platform to create social change when I graduated high school. As young as I was, I knew the message I chose mattered. I could either sit back and ignore a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, or I could strategize and use the media spotlight to advocate for LGBT+ youth by calling for School Choice policy reform. I chose the latter. With persistence, perpetual optimism, and a lot of phone calls, I made a difference in my community and realized the power of a thoughtfully told story. I am passionate about crafting stories that inspire audiences to take action. There are many stories left for me to unearth. But in the meantime, the opportunities, inspirations, and skills I acquire will make me a true entrepreneurial force to be reckoned with.
