I represented creditors, debtors, trustees, and official committees in bankruptcy cases in many different industries, such as health care, real estate (hotels, shopping centers and multi-family residential projects), agriculture, charter airlines, and restaurants. My practice included counseling clients, negotiating, drafting pleadings and contracts, and litigating in federal and state courts. I also had an estate planning and probate practice for several years. After retiring from my business law practice in late 2019, I began exploring options for combining my passion for helping nonprofit organizations (particularly in the arts) with my knowledge of various areas of the law. I have served for a number of years on nonprofit boards, including Arts for All/Third Street Kids, Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation and Tucson Symphony Orchestra, and currently sit on the boards of the Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation, True Concord Voices and Orchestra and the Tucson Desert Song Festival. Over the years, I have chaired several of these boards, and have led a number of committees, including Strategic Planning, Governance and Executive Search Committees. I have learned a lot about Tucson's vibrant nonprofit community through my work with the Community Foundation of Southern Arizona's Center for Healthy Nonprofits. I have participated in many lectures and workshops there, as well as serving as a co-facilitator of monthly Board Café sessions and as speaker on various governance topics. During the summer I finally took the plunge and formed my own law firm with the aim of helping nonprofits with various legal and governance issues, at a reasonable cost.
