Milagros Zingoni Email & Phone Number | Milagros Zingoni is an Associate Professor and Director of the School of Interior Architecture and Director of Diversity Relations at the College of Architecture and Design at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Originally from Argentina, Milagros believes that innovation comes from communication between disciplines and collaboration between the community and professionals with perhaps different backgrounds but similar goals. Her experience as both, architect and educator, provides a fresh lens to understand student centered approaches, physically and pedagogically. Her research includes explorations of the environmental settings that address new ways of learning as a result of changes associated with technology and how these settings provide opportunities to emphasize problem solving skills and collaboration that creates communities of learning. Her studios focus on community and commitment to public engagement. This, has given her a focused insight on how people relate to one another and how the built environment influences them in the process. She has been recognized by her research and teaching winning the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) 2019 National Teaching Excellence Award, the 2019 American Institute of Architects Educator of the Year Award ( Arizona Chapter), Ranked by Design Intelligence as one of the most Admired Educators in 2019, and the 2020 Arizona State University Faculty Women Association Outstanding Mentor Award and the 2022 International Interior Design Association ( IIDA) Diversity Educator Award given by IIDA and IDEC Foundation. Before teaching in Interiors she taught for eight years in Architecture and Urban Design also at The Design School. She is a registered architect in Patagonia, Argentina, and has also studied Habitat Design and Urban and Environmental Planning. Her background allows her to understand human experiences at multiple scales. Milagros serves on several boards and is in leadership positions within the community and the profession.
