My career began at Amerada Hess in auditing and then moved to DuPont where I enjoyed a fast track 16-year career of unusual breadth and depth – literally performing (and/or leading) more than a half-dozen different business functions during my tenure. That experience honed my business/leadership skills, leading to success at my current employer, Praxair, as VP of Sales and Marketing. I have profit and loss accountability for a dynamic 1.6 billion business with 400 direct/indirect reports spanning 3 diverse business functions: Marketing, National Accounts Team and Healthcare Business Segment. ► MY STRENGTHS... ➝ My broad background in finance, sales, operations and other functions has molded me into a “big picture” thinker who understands the needs and mission of each business function, how they interact as a whole, and in turn, how to drive the best performance from the entire organization. ➝ Analytical/business planning skills are certainly a strong suit as well. I have a proven ability to identify and then seize market opportunities. And at Praxair, I’ve been apply to apply those skills often and particularly during mergers and acquisitions, having been directly involved with 30+ seamless acquisitions in my previous Praxair roles as Director of Finance and Regional VP. ➝ People management is also an area where I excel. I’ve met execs, for example, who are great at talking with other execs, but struggle to communicate with the guy or gal on the plant floor. I’m happy to say I don’t have that challenge! And I think my ability to communicate at all levels is just one of the reasons I’ve been able to build motivated teams and strong, profitable organizations despite market challenges.
