I started my career at the beginning of the Broadband Internet Era which has forever changed the way people connect to the world. Imagine or recall a time when nearly everyone in the world that had access to the Internet used a telephone line and a dialup modem because there were no Broadband Internet options (DSL, Cable, or Fiber). Also recall a time that telephone service was only offered by a telephone company and video service was scheduled programming offered by only a cable or satellite company. I am part of the few men and women that created the first Broadband Internet and VoIP Networks in the world. I have had incredible opportunities over my career and here are some highlights: • 1999 hired as Charter corporate’s first data network & VoIP engineer • Founding member (later Engineering Executive) creating Charter’s Internet, Telephone, & Business Services • Created Charter's first data network and application engineering & architecture organizations that built a tier 1 CSP including the “end-to-end” cable & FTTx IP/data network for all services, L2/L3 VPN, VoIP, Email, provisioning, management & Web hosting • 1999-2006 led Charter's initial broadband cable internet deployments across 40 states, from tier 1 cities to rural markets, with most having only dial-up internet options • 2002 world’s first deployment of an end-to-end VoIP network for primary line telephone service • 2002 world’s first deployment of MPLS VPN over broadband (DOCSIS) • 2002 among the first to deploy PON technology • 2007 patented what years later served as the basis for DPoE Specifications deployed worldwide • 2010 world’s first deployment of a disaggregated OLT & ONU with virtualized management that today is being standardized • 2011/12 issued industry publications that later served as the basis for DOCSIS 3.1 Specifications deployed worldwide • Presented to a Prime Minister, government agencies (e.g., FCC) and Wall Street on technologies & costs for open access, telephone, DOCSIS & PON INDUSTRY: • Inducted into the “Cable TV Pioneers” Class of 2023 (highest industry honor) • Awarded "40 under 40” by Multichannel News Magazine 2008 • Awarded “IP Innovator Award” 2005 by SCTE (highest honor for IP/data networking) • Appointed to BBF Executive Advisory Board 2023 • Appointed Chair of FBA Sustainability WG 2023 • Appointed Co-Chair of CableLabs FMA WG 2018–22 • Elected Chair of IEEE 1904.1 SIEPON WG - TF4 2010–11 • 60+ Speaking Engagements • 40+ Published Papers • 20+ Interviews • 10+ Patents Granted / Pending
