I grew up swinging a hammer with my father’s construction company which eventually led to a professional career with one of the Nation’s largest home building companies. I was able to take the hands-on knowledge taught by my family and apply it to a much larger scale. My first job after an MBA, as the Director of Business Analysis with NAHB’s Economics Department, helped me learn and understand the home building industry from both the micro and macro perspective. This combination led to an amazing partnership with SMA Consulting where I was able to apply what I had learned and begin to share it with others - something I’m still passionate about today. In 2007 I co-founded Red Door Homes, a National home building company that operates in multiple states. Moving the business forward during one of the most challenging times in home building was an invaluable learning experience and I’m proud of the business our team built as a result. In 2015 I also became a partner with Berks Homes, a locally owned residential home builder serving Eastern and Central Pennsylvania. As president I am proud to partner with an experienced leadership team to achieve a unified vision. In the last 35 years I’ve been able to acquire tremendous technical knowledge in the building industry. I’ve also been humbled by the leadership lessons I’ve learned (some learned the hard way) over the years. Of all the things I’ve learned, these lessons are, by far, the most valuable. Home building demands a great deal of discipline and care. It takes hundreds of people to bring each home to life. Many people depend on you to get it right: customers, employees, trade partners, suppliers, bankers and more. My hope is that when I “hang up my hat” someday, the people I’ve impacted say I got it right. Currently the President of Berks and Red Door Homes and partner with SMA Consulting.
