I am a graduate of the Cornell University College of Engineering, where I received a Masters of Engineering degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Engineering. My Bachelor of Science concentration was also in Biomedical Engineering, which allowed me to learn a wide range of biological, medical, and engineering related skills. While I have taken standard courses related to subjects such as tissue engineering and biomaterial interactions, I am also versed in topics such as biochemistry and genetics. I am currently a scientist at Becton Dickinson, where I work in the research and development of diagnostic tests. I have been involved in the development and implementation of the BD MAX Enteric Viral Panel, as well as projects on the Open Systems platform. I was involved in several laboratory positions during my tenure at Cornell University, the most notable of which is with the Cheetham Laboratory in the Department of Clinical Sciences. My main project was research into the effects of cytokine delivery on peripheral nerve repair and regeneration under the instruction of Dr. Jon Cheetham, as both an undergraduate and graduate student. I was previously involved in an internship at UConn Health Center involving microRNA mimic transfection into osteoblast cultures. My work in both laboratories allowed me to develop numerous skills such as cell culture, animal handling, microscopy, and immunohistochemical staining techniques. In addition to my undergraduate college courses, I was a member of the Cornell Raptor Program, where I served as co-director of the education programs in my final undergraduate semesters. My supplementary skills include formal writing technique, public speaking, Design for Six Sigma experience, and in silico research analysis.
