As the BC Liberal MLA for Parksville-Qualicum in beautiful British Columbia, for almost eight years I brought my energy and dedication to work each and every day. I love the community I live in and was honoured to represent its citizens in the Legislature. I was first elected to office on May 14, 2013 and was appointed Minister of Social Development and Social Innovation on February 2, 2015. Since being elected I have served as the Government Caucus Chair and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health for Healthy Living and Seniors. I was a member of Treasury board, Select Standing Committee on Health, Legislative Assembly Management Committee, and Finance & Audit Committee a member of the Cabinet Committee on Secure Tomorrow and Cabinet Working Group on Mental Health. I also served as the Deputy Chair of the Select Standing committee for Children and Families. I am an advocate for persons with disabilities and children with special needs throughout British Columbia. As a six-time Paralympic gold medalist and 10-time World Champion, sport has given me the determination and perseverance to be a strong voice in Government for my constituents.
