Mereia Carling is a I have 23 years working on youth and children's development issues. A key focus of my work has been on participation and citizenship as well as child and youth protection. I use rights-based approaches and have extensive experience working on child rights issues - policy development, planning, research and reporting in 13 Pacific Island countries. Specialties: My specialist area is child and youth citizenship. My Masters thesis explored the role of young citizens in Fiji's development, looking at the value of youth citizenship - in social and economic terms - and practical feasibility of facilitating greater youth citizenship in Fiji's governance.
