Menda Bavcevic is a I’m first generation Australian and the third child of immigrant parents (Croatian Dad and Serbian Mum). I was born and lived in Perth for most of my life until 2019, I made the sea change and moved to Dunsborough, a beautiful coastal town that is a 3-hour drive south of Perth. Post tertiary studies, the early stages of my career began in the not-for-profit and local government sector as a community development practitioner. Then in 2012, I made the switch into the mining industry where I have been ever since specialising in Community and Corporate Affairs, and more recently Inclusion & Diversity. The mining industry has provided me incredible opportunities to contribute towards shifting that positive social impact dial for the mining and wider WA Community. I’ve been fortunate to expand my geographical location beyond the Perth offices along St Georges Terrace and out to active mine sites based across the Pilbara and Goldfields region, gaining a deep understanding of pit to port operations. A fundamental portion of my career has been to maintain the company’s social license to operate using my skills in negotiation and influence when engaging with external and internal stakeholders.
