Melissa Lafreniere Email & Phone Number | Dr. Lafreniere has been a faculty member in the Department of Geography and Planning at Queen's University since 2004. Her research program investigates how changing hydrology and permafrost are affecting the composition and fluxes of organic carbon, nutrients, and overall water quality and quantity in permafrost and snow and ice covered watersheds. This program combines process and experimental hydrological and biogeochemical field research in the Canadian Arctic with laboratory experiments and chemical analyses I strive to engage in partnerships and knowledge exchange with the local communities who are the most directly affected by climate change and strive to incorporate traditional knowledge and Inuit researchers to enhance the value, and our understanding, of collected data.
