I recently completed a one-year clinical internship at Resurrection Behavioral Health – Addictions Services, working with clients with a number of addictions, compulsive behaviors, mood disorders and personality disorders. My responsibilities included: intervening in moments of crisis, individual therapy sessions, co-facilitating group therapy, leading stress management practice, recovery education, case management, assessments, and presenting necessary patient cases at staffing meetings to the Medical Director and Clinical Psychiatrist. I have experience assessing/counseling undergraduate students, individuals struggling with suicidal and homicidal ideations, chemical dependencies and compulsive behaviors, and have had experience as a volunteer counselor. During my undergraduate education, I served as an Orientation Assistant, which allowed me to mentor and establish a rapport with first-year students. I also co-facilitated a women’s small group and was available to these women for counsel, as well as victims of sexual assault and women involved in abusive relationships.
