I’ve discovered that managing people is the key to improving the quality, production, and morale of online writing teams. Anyone can edit spelling and grammar. Motivating people to create is a form of expertise only achieved through years of practice. Writers and editors I have mentored over the past 10 years have gone on to work for major media outlets such as The New York Times and The Washington Post. They came to me as promising writers and left as accomplished storytellers. A good editor can take any piece of writing and turn it into a masterpiece.
