Maya Gilbert Email & Phone Number | I am a Junior at Barnard College. I am double majoring in Political Science and Human Rights with a minor in Psychology. I grew up in the small town of Ojai, California. I am a first-generation and low-income student and is passionate about helping her fellow peers. My first-gen low-income identity has helped shape her time as a student as she has learned to be financially independent for her school and personal needs. Academics are extremely important to me and I spend most of my time studying or in class. Currently, I work as a babysitter, am a part of student government, do volunteer projects. I also work as an advisor for the Social Justice League at her previous high school, allowing her to still connect with her community at home. During the last summer, I worked in multiple positions at a local restaurant. While in high school I worked part-time at Meiners Oaks and Ojai Library and served as the Parks and Recreation Youth Commissioner for the City of Ojai. I am passionate about politics and hope to go to law school and pursue a career in international relations.
