A true “owl” at heart, Maya received her Juris Doctor and B.A. from Temple University. At Temple University Beasley School of Law, Maya was a Conwell Merit Scholar and attended classes at night while working full-time in law firms during the day. Maya returned to the classroom as a part-time adjunct professor in business and legal disciplines. Maya's commitment to social justice extends beyond her professional endeavors. As the secretary of the executive board of the Youth Sentencing & Reentry Program (YSRP), she supports the organization's mission to prevent the incarceration of children in adult jails and prisons. YSRP also advocates for the release of individuals who were sentenced as children to life in prison without parole, known as “Juvenile Lifers“. From the boardroom to the classroom and everywhere in between, Maya relentlessly advocates for creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
